Add the black pepper powder & grated coconut with salt and mix well. Canned fish are those which have been processed, sealed in an airtight container such as a sealed tin can, and subjected to heat. Squeeze out all the water from the canned tuna or if your using other fish, cook the fish with turmeric powder, salt and water. Cool and shred fish meat finely, remove the bones and keep it aside.

  1. Heat the oil in a pan and saute the onions till brown.
  2. Add the tomatoes and saute for 5mins.
  3. Add the masalas and salt and saute for 1 min..
  4. Add the tuna, mix well to make all the big lumps smaller as well..
  5. Add water, bring to boil. Return to low flame. Cover the pan with a plate so it cooks for another 15mins..
  6. Remove the cover, the water must have dried by now. Keep sauting the tuna mixture till pretty dry and slightly crispy..
  7. Garnish with corriander leaves. That adds a real taste to the tuna thoran. Serve hot with rice or any bread item..
